Q: What experiences led you to the fashion industry?
I knew I wanted to be a buyer, so I took whatever I could get on my journey. When I was in high school my business teacher had a friend who worked at Kenneth Cole in their showroom. He helped to get me an interview and I got my first internship at 17-years-old. While everyone else in my small-town was doing their senior co-ops at local stores, bakeries and schools, I was commuting into the city.
It was all over from there. While in college I worked at a local women's boutique and then later took a 6 month internship with Fendi doing quality control and operations. After that internship I wanted to jump into buying and found myself interested in menswear - so I locked a position at Atrium, which was one of the coolest stores in its day. From that, I just ended up in the right place at the right time and worked my butt off.
I then ended up naturally gravitating back to womenswear, so when a women's buyer asked for my help looking for new swimwear lines I jumped right in. This started my career with Liberty Fairs as a sales/marketing coordinator my senior year of college. I launched Cabana Show that year with the founder and worked my way up the ranks over 6+ years to run the business and launch the New York shows.
Q: Why were you drawn to COTERIE?
The opportunity to help shift the perception. I want to help take COTERIE to the next level by bringing the small-business mentality to the larger game and help give attention to different segments that will allow buyers to truly discover newness in a place they need to be for business.
Q: What do you hope to bring to your shows?
1. Create environments where even the smallest, new designers can thrive.
2. Establish a true resortwear business that relates to the warm weather travel lifestyle.
3. Add more global diversity from designers and experiences.
4. Consumer facing activities and pop ups that will help introduce clients to the market.
Q: What makes you the best person for the job?
1. The background of building Cabana and my love for travel lifestyle.
2. I love building meaningful relationships. Everything goes so much further beyond a business transaction for me, which is what it takes to launch new ideas.
3. I started my own pop-up company Nada Collective (with the same consumer ideals).
4. I hustle.
Q: What are your goals for the future?
My overall goal is to create meaningful and memorable moments that can help shape the way the industry moves forward.
Don't miss out on our next New York show.
