AUGUST RECAP | What's Driving The Industry's Best To Our Shows?
It's the energy, simply put. There's no secret that there's an obvious transformation happening in fashion and the only way to counteract it is to transform along with it. Buying patterns have changed, technology has taken over, and conscious fashion decisions are more important now than ever before. Taking all of those factors into consideration have led us to build our shows into an evolving hub that contains extraordinary global buying power, must need collections, educational epicenters, and a community that works together to strengthen each relationship through a mutual affinity for fashion.
Forming bonds that develops the industry's progression has been increasingly vital to its own growth. So, to make sure those bonds were solidified, all of our August shows were packed with what they needed most. NY Women's and CHILDREN'S CLUB in NYC on August 4-6 and ONE MAGIC Las Vegas on August 12-14 housed tens of thousands of buyers, brands, and members of the media that joined in on much more than just your basic transactional business. Meet and mingle cocktail hours, celebrity appearances/performances, enlightening seminars, and new brand showcases kept everyone busy and motivated during each 3-day event.
"The vibes and the energy here are all very lively and refreshing for a trade show. Buyers are here looking at brands and actually writing orders. We're having an amazing time. Everyone’s very happy with the turn out and we've been very busy!" – TRIPLE 7 DISTRIBUTION | Dillon Jones, Domestic Sales Manager | PROJECT
If you’ve never been to one of our events or just starting to hear our name pop up, you may assume that we’re like any other unenthused trade show that you’ve been to. Show up, meet with a few appointments, stand in your booth, stare at buyers walking by, give your elevator pitch a hundred times, and go home. That formula may work for your business, it may allow your company to make ends meet, but it probably won’t be memorable or give you the extra push that you need to make it to the next level.
Brands at the August shows had plenty to be happy about with multiple one-of-a-kind experiences to connect with buyers outside of their booths that aren’t available at other shows. From either a lounge happy hours, an En Vogue performance, post-educational seminars, concerts, or bonding over a love for Jane Fonda, Nicki Hilton, or Mo Vaughn, there was always a chance to improve the show experience and create more value for you and your company. In no other fashion event, or any type of show for that matter, would you find all of these offerings under one roof. By partnering with organizations like the CFDA, Highsnobiety, WWD, Accessories Council, Create & Cultivate, WGSN, (many of whom sponsored seminars) and countless others, we work to bring extraordinary outside benefits that no normal show would offer.
“Our show has been really good, we used to do FN PLATFORM and Liberty, but this time we focused on FN PLATFORM only. It’s been good, we got in front of some people that we normally wouldn’t have, and we had some good appointments going into the show. We’ve been pleasantly surprised with the ONE MAGIC move. We’ve met new people that we would have never even heard of.”
Our seminars give the audience a way to tap into the industry and allowed them to learn from the people who are doing what their brand may need improvement on. Among many, two common themes that were ever present at our 50+ panels were questions on navigating the new digital age and sustainability. Internet influencers spoke on the best practices of partnering with them, directors from Highsnobiety discussed if brand “clout” had any real currency in fashion today, and why having an “nice” Instagram and website are sometimes just not enough.
"I've never seen energy like this. The robust programming with the panels and speakers, I find it to be very innovative and a great resource for retailers and brands alike. And the show is massive! Having all the shows in one place makes it super convenient for me to come here now. I get to see everything I would ever need to see and learn a lot along the way."

Thulani Ngazimbi, founder of a PROJECT N:OW brand called The Rad Black Kids, led the “Green Is The New Black” panel, discussing the need of education and immediate change in sustainability initiatives among the fashion world. By addressing issues that affect us on a global scale and not choosing to ignore them, we can start to have a gradual impact on the future.
Seeing our community of brands and retailers so passionate about a sustainable future, we have taken steps of our own to promote a smaller carbon foot print. By introducing the MAGIC Las Vegas Mobile App, which includes brand listings, event line ups, way-finding capabilities, brand books, and much more, we have eliminated the need for lengthy show directories which were utilized in previous shows.
In addition, to deepen our commitment to sustainability in the Fashion industry, we have launched Good4Fashion, a partnership between the Conscious Fashion Campaign in support of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. The program will work to help move the fashion industry towards a more sustainable and conscious future. Social responsibility, responsible production, ethical practices and eco/animal friendly initiatives are the four pillars that speak to Informa Markets commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. If you want to learn please visit www.Good4Fashion.com.
The momentum of our sustainability initiatives, along with our ambition to continue to change the traditional B2B show model, will push us into an exciting 2020 show schedule. See below for all our upcoming fashion events and we hope to see you there!
“My first time at the show [PROJECT] was last February 2019 and I’ve see a tremendous amount of people coming in. Nothing but great vibes. I mean every single booth, there’s always someone coming in, doing business and it’s really like a whole community. It has never been this busy and it’s been a long time since I’ve seen a trade show like this before, and I mean a really, really long time. I started with Nike SB and Hurley at the other trade show, so this is awesome to see. It’s beautiful. Being able to meet up with old buyers we haven’t talked to in so many years and rekindling the connection again is so awesome. We’ve been crazy busy this show. We were busy last show, but this is on another level, it’s intense. Its every hour, we haven’t stopped!”
